I love CHOCOLATE. I also love dessert wines, so what happens when you put the two together? You get Desiree - a California dessert wine with chocolate flavor. Produced by Rosenblum Cellars, it consists of three varietals: Zinfandel, Touriga Nacional, and Syrah with Zinfandel being the highest percetage of grape used. The chocolate flavor is liquid syrup that is added to give a result that will surprise you.
On the nose, there is vanilla and chocolate essence. With cherry tastes, it is high in alcohol as the blended wines are fortifed with Brandy. A suggested pairing would be semolina cherry shortbread or orange tea cakes with bittersweet chocolate buttercream, or simply drink as dessert. Serve about 3 ounces, slightly chilled in a Port glass. Desiree retails @ $18/375 ml bottle. Rosenblum Cellars Two other infused chocolate fortified wines to try are: Ficklin Vineyards' Chocolate Passport
